An oil skimmer is a small device that continuously lifts tramp oil (hydraulic oil, way oil) off the surface of the coolant tank on CNC lathes, mills and grinders and drains it into a separate tray. Tramp oil seals the emulsion from oxygen, bacteria grow, the coolant smells, foams and has to be replaced within weeks. The skimmer breaks that cycle.
Three benefits: coolant lasts longer (lower replacement and disposal cost), machine and part surfaces stay clean, and smell and skin irritation in the shop drop. Because the separated oil can be recovered, the device pays for itself quickly.
Disc type (EYS-D): a disc rotating at the surface picks up the oil and a wiper blade cleans it off. The most efficient choice when the tank surface is wide and the level is fairly constant; it mounts easily on the machine tank.
Belt type (EYS-K): an endless belt reaches deep into the tank. Preferred for narrow, deep or variable-level tanks. Both models run on 12 V at 25 rpm with a 15-minute interval timer.
